Millions Of Genetically Modified Mosquitoes Set To Be Released: This Is Why It’s A Problem

Millions of genetically modified mosquitoes might soon be released in Florida. The biotech company Oxitec and the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District (FKMCD) are moving ahead with their plan to introduce these insects into the area to, according to them, help stop the spread of multiple tropical diseases.

One of the diseases is called Chikungunya, another is dengue, and both are spread by Aedes mosquitoes. An infection with Chikungunya can lead to fever and joint pain which is sometimes severe, but rarely causes death. In 2014, only 11 individuals actually contracted this disease in Florida, so it makes one wonder if this type of “tinkering with nature” is really necessary? (source)

When it comes to the dengue virus, severe cases may progress into dengue hemorrhagic fever, complications from which may eventually result in death. Over 100 million cases of dengue occur every year, but according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is rare to find a case of it in the United States.

The mosquitoes released would all be male, and are genetically modified to carry a “genetic kill switch.” This means that when they mate with wild female mosquitoes, the “kill switch” gene is passed on to the offspring and therefore cannot survive.

Millions Of Genetically Modified Insects Have Already Been Released

Oxitec has already released a large number of GM olive flies that were used to kill off wild pests that damage crops. In the Cayman Islands, 3 million GM mosquitoes were released, and in this case over 90 percent of the original natural native mosquito population was suppressed. Supporters of the GM insects, like Oxitec, claim that those who oppose the idea are simply fear mongering. This is currently the same response from the big biotech giants to opposers of genetically modified foods.

Concerns With This Approach

There are various concerns, such as, what happens if someone receives a bite from one of these mosquitoes?

“Will their GM DNA be injected into your arm or leg? Oxitec has counteracted this objection by stating they only plan to release male mosquitoes, which don’t bite. This again sounds good in theory… but in reality, sorting millions of insects according to sex is no small feat. And even FKMCD notes that although ‘every effort is made to release only males,’ Oxitec trials show that .03 percent of the mosquitoes released are female” -Dr. Joseph Mercola (source)

If you think about it, with millions of mosquitoes released, we are still talking about thousands of mosquitoes that can bite. Estimates of genetically modified insects that have been released into the environment are between 50-100 million. What about the environmental health impacts report? Again, what about the synthetic DNA from the bites? Who is tracking all of this stuff, and how exactly do you track it? Why are we just assuming everything is okay, without any evidence to back it up?

The potential exists for these genes, which hop from one place to another, to infect human blood by finding entry through skin lesions or inhaled dust. Such transmission could potentially wreak havoc with the human genome by creating “insertion mutations” and other unpredictable types of DNA damage. (source)

According to Alfred Handler, a geneticist at the Agriculture Department in Hawaii, mosquitoes can develop resistance to the lethal gene and might then be released inadvertently. (source)

Todd Shelly, an entomologist for the Agriculture Department in Hawaii, said 3.5 percent of the insects in a laboratory test survived to adulthood, despite presumably carrying the lethal gene. (source)

Another factor to consider is this:

“Tetracycline and other antibiotics are now showing up in the environment, in soil and surface water samples. These GM mosquitoes were designed to die in the absence of tetracycline (which is introduced in the lab in order to keep them alive long enough to breed). They were designed this way assuming they would NOT have access to that drug in the wild. With tetracycline exposure (for example, in a lake) these mutant insects could actually thrive in the wild, potentially creating a nightmarish scenario.” (source)

Dr Helen Wallace, director of GeneWatch UK, warned about the GM fruit flies that were released a couple of years ago:

“Releasing Oxite’s GM fruit flies is a deeply flawed approach to reducing numbers of these pests, because large numbers of their offspring will die as maggots in the fruit. Not only does this fail to protect the crop, millions of GM fruit fly maggots will enter the food chain where they could pose risks to human health and the environment. Oxitec’s experiments should not go ahead until rules for safety testing and plans for labelling and segregation of contaminated fruits have been thoroughly debated and assessed. If these issues are ignored, growers could suffer serious impacts on the market for their crops.” (source)

It’s also important to note that there is there is no specific regulatory process for GM insects anywhere in the world.

Wallace went on to state that:

“Regulatory decisions on GM insects in Europe and around the world are being biased by corporate interests as the UK biotech company Oxitec has infiltrated decision-making processes around the world. The company has close links to the multinational pesticide and seed company, Syngenta. Oxitec has already made large-scale open releases of GM mosquitoes in the Cayman Islands, Malaysia and Brazil and is developing GM agricultural pests, jointly with Syngenta.” (source) (source)

“The public will be shocked to learn that GM insects can be released into the environment without any proper oversight. Conflicts of interest should be removed from all decision making processes to ensure the public have a proper say about these plans” – Dr Helen Wallace, Director of GeneWatch UK (source)

Environmental NGOs like Greenpeace suggest that GM insects could have unintended and wide ranging impacts on the environment and human health due to the complexity of ecosystems and the high number of unknown factors which make risk assessment difficult. These companies have raised a number of concerns which include: (source)

  • New insects or diseases may fill ecological niche left by the insects suppressed or replaced, possibly resulting in new public health or agricultural problems
  • The new genes engineered into the insects may jump into other species, a process called horizontal transfer, causing unintended consequences to the ecosystem
  • Releases would be impossible to monitor and irreversible, as would any damage done to the environment

A briefing done by these organizations also shows that Oxitec is trying to influence regulatory processes for GM insects, that they: (source)

  • Don’t want to be liable for any complications
  • Try to avoid any regulation of GM agricultural pests on crops appearing in the food chain
  • Exclude important issues from risk assessments, like the impact on human health
  • Release of large amounts of GM insects prior to regulations
  • Undermining the requirement to obtain informed consent for experiments involving insect species which transmit disease

This Could Be The Biggest Seasonal Flu Lie Out That Exists

It is said that the seasonal flu kills between 250000 to 500000 people worldwide, a number that to some reading might sound incredibly high. Perhaps this is why the flu vaccine is so heavily offered? The key question that is creating a great amount of controversy is whether or not the numbers we read about the amount of flu deaths are actually accurate?

When winter time rolls around we start hearing the term “flu season.” As a result, we are offered the flu vaccine as a means to protect ourselves from the flu. I was just reading a public health flyer the other day that stated the best way to protect yourself from the flu is to take the vaccine. It seemed odd that the whole public health flyer seemed focused on making sure people knew the flu vaccine was a must have. I could understand that, if the death stats were actually accurate.

What Are The Stats Based On?

The World Health Organization is the source of the death count annually that is seen above. The CDC states that about 36000 people in the US die each year from the flu. Although to some these sources seem credible, where they are getting their information from could be much more of a PR move than a legitimate stat.

According to the National Vital Statistics System in the US., annual flu deaths in 2010 were only 500 for the year. Ulcers, pregnancy, childbirth and hernias were all around double or more compared to the flu. This of course didn’t even compare to things like heart disease or cancer which ranged somewhere in the 500000 range. The story is the same in Canada.

Interestingly, the CDC released a data paper in 2010 that shows how they categorize flu deaths. The stat is grouped with Pneumonia deaths. If one were to look, it states that 50097 deaths were attributed to flu and pneumonia, but when that number is broken down, pneumonia is responsible for 49597 and the flu only 500. The CDC itself acknowledges and admits that there is only a slim relationship, stating “only a small proportion of deaths… only 8,5 per cent of all pneumonia and influenza deaths [are] influenza-related.”

In Canada the numbers are approximately the same, reported deaths of the flu have never surpassed 350 during a flu season. Some years were as little as 150 or so. Furthermore, hospitalizations from the flu never surpassed 7000 for the entire country in some of the worst recorded years.

The interesting thing about the WHO is that in their estimations they show no measure of how they arrived at their numbers. This is why controversy is so heavy when it comes to actual flu numbers. This is perhaps also why many point to the numbers as a PR stunt to sell more vaccinations.

Multiple Sources Agree

To take it even further, the American Journal of Public Health and the British Medical Journal feel the number of 500 deaths in the US could even be too high. They state that only about 15-20 per cent of people who come down with flu-like symptoms actually have the influenza virus. It is believed that the other 80-85 per cent actually caught rhinovirus or other germs that are indistinguishable from the true flu without laboratory tests, which are rarely done.

“US data on influenza deaths are a mess,” states a 2005 article in the British Medical Journal entitled “Are US flu death figures more PR than science?” The article points to the fact that the claimed 36000 yearly flu-death figure commonly claimed is overstated and incorrect. This makes calling pneumonia/influenza as the 7th leading cause of death incorrect as well.

Is The Vaccine Even Effective?

The former Chief Vaccine Office at the FDA, Dr. Anthony Morris states: “there is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza.”

Of course this statement has been attacked by many “science” blogs stating he isn’t an expert on the flu and that his opinion shouldn’t be trusted. A classic move by opposers where an attack is set out on statements made using emotional arguments attempting to make others feel unintelligent for questioning something. Yet the opposers often provide no evidence to state the research or opinion is incorrect. This is perhaps one of the most dangerous aspects of parts of the scientific community. To think of how many things are ignored or shot down out of arrogance and fear of overturning old ideas is astonishing.

The prestigious Cochrane Library released a review in 2009 stating “There is not enough evidence to decide whether routine vaccination to prevent influenza in healthy adults effective.”

Given the ineffectiveness of the vaccine and the potential side effects that go along with the vaccine, why put yourself at risk? The influenza does not appear to show any moderate risk of hospitalization or death and avoiding the flu can be done very easily with natural means.

Perhaps it’s finally time to end the hype and stop supporting the vaccine all together?

Sadly the CDC has created a mass market for the flu vaccine and enlisted doctors and the media to fear many into taking it. Since very few have questioned the efficacy of such a vaccine, the hysteria continues blindly.

Why we should pay attention to heavy metal poisoning

Heavy metal poisoning isn’t in the news as often it should be due to the amount of people unknowingly affected by it. Spirit tells me that mercury and aluminum poisoning is on the rise and has reached epidemic levels. Heavy metals are like a hidden, behind-the-scenes instigator and that’s not being acknowledged to the point it should be. The difference between 20 years ago and now is huge but people are often misdiagnosed and told they have another malady. Heavy metal poisoning is the toxic accumulation of heavy metals in the soft tissues of the body. The reason it has increased so much is due to pesticides, herbicides and pollutants as well as fish being worse than ever for mercury, pollutants and solvents. Also, there are heavy metals and solvents that come out of the treated wood of lawn furniture that are absorbed right into your skin. Arsenic is one. Let’s say you decide to do a little project and want to sand some wood down or restore some antique furniture. Because treated wood, stain and old paint can havearsenic and/or lead in it, it can get into your system. Aluminum from aluminum cans is another avenue. A lot of out gassing occurs, especially when somebody is outside with a can of soda and it warms up in the sun. Spirit tells me that oxidationcan occur from the oils in your hand touching the aluminum can. No, we can’t encase ourselves in a bubble and hide from it all but we can be a little bit more aware, especially when it comes to what we eat. Tuna and swordfish are high in mercury and contain some arsenic. One thing you don’t want to do is eat tuna out of a can. During the packaging and pasteurizing of aluminum cans, the heat causes the aluminum to release and absorb right into the fish. Heavy metals are in the air in general thanks in part to the amount of exhaust fumes traveling around. They are in the air because of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. There are solvents in toxic cleaners. Therefore, we can get exposed rather easily. Symptoms Some of the symptoms to be on the lookout for are sleeplessness, sleep disorders and restless leg syndrome, which is huge, right now. That’s when you have to keep on shifting and moving your legs throughout the night. You can’t get comfortable. Sometimes you have pain or cramps in your legs. Then insomnia occurs. But people don’t know what is causing this. Women get blamed and hormones are picked on. They’re told they need hormone therapy meanwhile they could have mercury or aluminum poisoning that is causing hot flashes. Staying focused is another symptom. Ways to avoid Adding more greens in your diet can help detoxify these heavy metals. Blue green algae, spirulina and cilantro are excellent ways to accomplish this. Spirit recommends doing a cilantro cleanse a couple of days out of every month. You can eat what you normally eat so if it is grass fed beef, free range chicken or eggs, or if you’re a vegetarian, whatever you’re eating is fine but incorporate one bunch of cilantro a day in your diet for a couple of days. You can chop it up and put it in salads, have it in your guacamole or put it on pizza. Cilantro can pull more mercury out and even some mercury and aluminum out of the brain. Spirit tells me that cilantro has a natural ability to cross the blood brain barrier. It’s a powerful way to help the situation with extra heavy metals. When they start building up, they get trapped in the body’s system and this turns into problems that are blamed on women’s hormones. Another way to lessen your risk of heavy metal poisoning is avoiding drinking out of aluminum cans and eating food out of aluminum cans if you can. Garlic is a great heavy metal remover so add more garlic in the diet. If you’re going to have a brioche, put some garlic in there. If you’re going to roast a chicken, roast some garlic in it. Seaweed: friend or foe? There’s a lot of controversy to seaweed. Seaweed has heavy metals in it because it’s floating around in the oceans but at the same time there are people who say you need the seaweeds and other people who say it is bad for you. But Spirit says the seaweed works and it is good for you because it holds onto metal as it enters into your body. As it digests in the body and goes through the intestinal tract, it doesn’t release the heavy metals. In fact it absorbs more metal so more aluminum is eliminated from your system. And then it passes through. I recommend that seaweed be eaten two or three times a week. Everybody is different. Maybe someone doesn’t do well with seaweed for some other reason. With seaweed you get the iodine that helps balance the thyroid and that alone can reduce symptoms that are also blamed on hormones such as night sweats, hot flashes, irritabilities and highs and lows. It’s the heavy metals that are behind a lot of that. Packaged nori, dulse, which many people say taste like bacon, kelp and sea lettuce are some of the types of seaweed that I suggest. People should also be aware that heavy metals build up overtime in a fish. The larger the fish, the more metal it will have and the older the fish the more concentrated it will be in its oils. The effects on cancer Heavy metals can play a great role in cancer. Cancer looks for heavy metals like nickel, copper and aluminum uses them as fuel. Cancer opens up its pores and vessels and draws in mercury. It’s a food source and it’s looking for foods that are also holding on to that metal. Metal is attracted to cancer and cancer is attracted to metal and that’s what Spirit has always told me. I think it’s starting to be talked about. This is how it works. Good minerals in food actually help defend the body against cancer so cancer does not want those minerals. If you’re eating an apple and you have trace minerals of zinc or you’re eating a Brazilian nut and have trace minerals of selenium or if you’re eating a piece of chicken and it has some phosphorous in it, or a little bit of manganese in it, cancer doesn’t want those minerals. Dangers Associated With Vaccinations Have Been Withheld From Public For 30 Years. Here Are The Documents

In this day and age, it’s very dangerous and naive for us, health professionals included, to assume that health authorities and pharmaceutical companies have our best interests at heart. We are living in a time where people are pushing for the freedom of information and as a result, it’s coming to the surface. For years, a massive amount of advertising has led people to believe that all vaccinations are safe and necessary. Many individuals continue to promote themselves as believers of science, without actually looking at and examining the science behind vaccinations. Meanwhile, babies and children are bombard with a rigorous North American vaccination schedule that more and more parents are choosing to opt out of. Much of this mistrust has to do with the lies and cover-ups from health authorities and vaccine manufactures, who have been involved in a 30 year scandal.

Documents obtained by Lucija Tomljenovic, PhD, from the Neural Dynamics Research Group in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of British Columbia reveal that vaccine manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and health authorities have known about multiple dangers associated with vaccines but chose to withhold them from the public. This is scientific fraud, and suggests that this practice continues till this day. (1)

The documents were obtained from the UK Department of Health (DH) and the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI), who advise the Secretaries of State for Health in the UK about diseases preventable through immunizations. (1)

Documents reveal that the JCVI made “continuous efforts to withhold critical data on severe adverse reactions and contraindications to vaccinations to both parents and health practitioners in order to reach overall vaccination rates, which they deemed were necessary for “herd immunity.” (1) Wouldn’t it be illegal to deliberately conceal information from parents for the sole purpose of getting them to comply with an official vaccination schedule? Is this not an ethical violation? All potential adverse affects should be known and completely disclosed, especially with regards to vaccines, which are administered to individuals to prevent disease of which an individual will most likely never be exposed to. Many of them contain harmful toxic chemicals.

The documents further reveal that British health authorities have been engaging in these cover-ups of information for the last 30 years. As a result many children have been vaccinated with their parents not knowing important information about the serious risks and adverse affects associated with multiple vaccines. (1)

“The transcripts of the JCBI meetings also show that some of the Committee members had extensive ties to pharmaceutical companies and that the JCVI frequently co-operated with vaccine manufactures on the strategies aimed at boosting vaccine uptake. Some of the meetings at which such controversial items were discussed were not intended to be publicly available, as the transcripts were only released later, through the Freedom of Information Act (FOI). These particular meetings are denoted in the transcripts as “commercial in confidence,” and reveal a clear and disturbing lack of transparency, as some of the information was removed from the text (i.e., the names of the participants) prior to transcript release under the FOI section at the JCVI website.” (1)

In summary, here are what the transcripts appear to show with regards to the JCVI/DH meetings that took place from 1983-2010.

  • Instead of reacting appropriately by re-examining existing vaccination policies when safety concerns over specific vaccines were identified by their own investigations, JCVI either a) took no action, b) skewed or selectively removed unfavourable safety data from public reports and c) made intensive efforts to reassure both the public and the authorities in the safety of respective vaccines
  • Significantly restricted contraindication to vaccination criteria in order to increase vaccination rates despite outstanding and unresolved safety issues
  • Persistently relied on methodologically dubious studies, while dismissing independent research, to promote vaccine policies
  • Persistently and categorically downplayed safety concerns while over-inflating vaccine benefits
  • Promoted and elaborated a plan for introducing new vaccines of questionable efficacy and safety into the routine pediatric schedule, on the assumption that the licenses would eventually be granted
  • Actively discouraged research on vaccine safety issues
  • Deliberately took advantage of parents’ trust and lack of relevant knowledge on vaccinations in order to promote a scientifically unsupported immunization program which could put certain children at risk of server long term neurological damage

In the last 30 years, the United States vaccine schedule has tripled, along with various ailments and disease. From birth, babies are bombard with a variety of different vaccinations. As a result, many have died, fallen ill and acquired a number of health problems. A 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, passed by congress as a result of pharmaceutical lobbying shields pharmaceutical companies and drug companies from injuries and deaths caused by the vaccines they manufacture. So, regardless of vaccine manufactures and health authorities knowing about the dangers associated with vaccines, and covering them up, they are still protected. Nevertheless, taxpayer money has dished out billions of dollars in vaccine injury related ailments.

This isn’t a conspiracy, it’s a reality. It’s always important to look at information on both sides of the coin. Sure, some vaccinations may have been successful in disease prevention, that doesn’t mean all of them are and have been. Health authorities and vaccine manufactures do commit scientific fraud and cover up information that might hurt their interests. Recently I posted why that soy is not the best product to consume, but in this article are more information about what up to a soy stay.

In the twentieth century the soybean was one of the two major new crops introduced into the U.S. (the other crop being canola). It has now become the number one export crop and one of the second largest crops for cash sales. Most soybean products are processed into oil (shortening, margarine, cooking oil & salad dressings) and meal. For example, you may have noticed (or may start noticing) the popular ingredient “Soy Lecithin” in many of your foods and household items. There was a time when soy was praised a superfood, from combating cancer and high cholesterol. However, new evidence has emerged with soy’s negative impact on health (and the environment). Read on to discover the deceptions and dangers of soy.

Health Dangers of Soy:

1. Impaired immune system Soy contains endocrine disrupting chemicals called phytoestrogens (specifically Genistein and daidzein) (1, 2, 3). They influence the reproductive organs as well as the immune system. In one study they found that mice treated with genistein (soy isoflavone) had less interferon (IFN)-gamma in culture supernatants (4) compared to mice treated with oil. Interferon-gamma is a cytokine that is crucial in innate and adaptive immunity against viral and bacterial infections and tumour control. Decreased levels of this molecule mean decreased immunity and decreased tumour control.

2. Impaired Fertility Soy isoflavones as seen in point 1 (above), are structurally similar to endogenous estrogens and display both estrogenic and weak anti-estrogenic activities (5). Impaired fertility and reproductive tract disorders can be a result of said activities. In female rats exposed to high doses of isoflavones their fertility decreased (6, 7) and had altered estrous cycling (8) – it also led to increased uterine weight and epithelial cell height which may contribute to ovarian cysts. Studies done with male rats had no found effects on sexual maturity, preputial separation, fertility, sperm count or testosterone levels (8).

3. Thyroid Disorders Soy-containing foods and their isoflavones may adversely affect thyroid function. In one study they investigated whether breast and soy-containing formula feedings in infants were associated with development of autoimmune thyroid disease in the children (9). “There was no difference in the frequency and duration of breast feeding in early life among the three groups of children. However, the frequency of feedings with soy-based milk formulas in early life was significantly higher in children with autoimmune thyroid disease (prevalence 31%) as compared with their siblings (prevalence 12%; chi 2 = 7,22 with continuity factor; p less than 0,01), and healthy nonrelated control children (prevalence 13%, chi 2 = 5,03 with continuity factor; p less than 0,02)” (9). This suggests that feeding infants soy formula is associated with autoimmune thyroid disease in the early years. Another study found that compounds in acidic methanol extracts of soybeans inhibit thyroid peroxidase- (TPO) catalyzed reactions required for normal thyroid hormone synthesis (10). Inhibition of thyroid hormone synthesis can lead to goiter and thyroid neoplasia.

4. Brain Damage In major study including 3734 elderly Japanese-American men, those who consumed most soy during their midlife had a 2,4 times higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in their life (11, 12). These men consumed tofu at least twice a week and had more cognitive impairment than those who never ate or only sporadically consumed tofu. These researchers also found that high consumption of tofu during midlife was associated with lower brain weight. 574 of the men were assessed for brain atrophy using an MRI machine, and although brain shrinkage naturally occurs with age, those men who ate more tofu had “an exaggeration of the usual patterns we see in aging” (11, 12).

5. Infant Abnormalities Problems regarding infants and soy is an important topic, especially for mothers who choose to use soy-infant formulas instead of breast feeding. According to Mary G. Enig, Ph.D., “the amount of phytoestrogens that are in a day’s worth of soy infant formula equals 5 birth control pills.” Soy-infant formulas contain high levels of isoflavones, and exposing infants to this daily intake equivocates to a 6-11 fold higher isoflavone exposure (based on bodyweight) than the dose that creates hormonal changes in adults consuming soy foods. When infants were tested for isoflavone concentrations circulating in the blood, the levels were 13000-22000 times higher than natural estrogen concentrations in the early years (13, 14).

Biggest Problems Surrounding Soy:

1. Genetic Modification (GMOs) Did you know that up to 91% of soy grown in the U.S. is genetically modified (GM)? The soybeans are specially selected so that they will resist the toxic herbicide Roundup. This means that the soybeans themselves are loaded with this toxic pesticide. In addition, genes from bacteria that produce a protein foreign to the human food supply are also inserted into the genes of the soybean plant, making this food item an un-natural food supply.

2. Contains Toxins: “anti-nutrients”; hemagglutinin; goitrogens; phytates Anti-nutritional factors like saponins, soyatoxin, phytates, protease inhibitors, oxalates, goitrogens and estrogens all interfere with our protein-digesting enzymes and result in poor digestion and thus poor health. Soybeans also contain hemagglutinins which act as clot-inducing substances (causes red blood cells to stick together). This makes our red blood cells unable to absorb oxygen and distribute it throughout the body. Goitrogens are a category of foods that promote formation of goiter (enlarged thyroid) – and soy foods fall in that category. They block thyroid hormone synthesis and obstruct iodine metabolism. The soybean has one of the highest phytate levels of any grain or legume. Phytates prevent the absorption of minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc by binding to the metal ions and preventing them from entering the cells of your body. As many vegans consume soybean products, and depend on them for absorption of these exact minerals, they may be doing just the opposite.

3. Contains Isoflavones Soy contains the isoflavones genistein (as seen previously) and daidzein. Isoflavones are a type of phytoestrogen which resemble the human compound called estrogen. Phytoestrogens have been found to block the hormone estrogen and can have serious effects on human tissues such as disrupting endocrine function, causing infertility, and promoting breast cancer in women.

4. Toxic Levels of Aluminum & Manganese Aluminum tanks are used to process and acid-wash soybeans before consumption. Aluminum particles from the tanks are directly absorbed into the soybean, and result in high aluminum concentrations in the bean. Soy infant formula also contains manganese levels 80 times higher than that found in human breast milk (15, 16).

5. Soy Infant Formula Concerns The isoflavones in soy infant formula is of great concern to new and expecting parents who choose to bottle-feed instead of breast-feed. Nearly 20% of U.S. infants are bottle-fed soy formula. As seen throughout this article, it is clear that the isoflavones in soy formula can negatively impact your child’s health (impairing sexual development and reproductive health).

Soy Products That Are Good For You

Choose fermented soy products such as: 1. Tempeh – fermented soybean cake that is firm and has a nutty, mushroom-like flavor 2. Miso – fermented soybean paste that is quite salty and commonly used in miso soup 3. Natto – sticky fermented soybeans with a strong, cheesy flavor 4. Soy Sauce – fermented soybeans, salt & enzymes

Soy Products To Avoid:

Tofu – TVP (texturized vegetable protein) or soy protein isolate – Soybean oil – Soymilk – Soy cheese, soy ice cream, soy yogurt – Soy “meat” – Soy protein – Edamame – Soy infant formula – Avoid ALL processed foods, and purchase only whole foods prepared by yourself! Many packaged food products contain soy.

What Should You Eat Instead Of Soy:

Many vegans consume “mock meat” typically made out of soybeans that are not fermented. As an alternative to the above list you can eat: – Tofu – Instead, eat tempeh (it is similar, just more dense) – Soybean oil – Instead, use olive oil, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, etc. – Soymilk – Instead, drink hemp, rice, almond, coconut or oat milk – Soy cheese, soy ice cream, soy yogurt – Instead eat Daiya cheese (much better than soy cheese), and coconut or banana ice cream (you can use bananas as a yogurt too if you wanted – just mash them up!) – Soy “meat” – Instead, eat tempeh – Soy protein – Instead, eat heart-healthy, amino-acid packed hemp protein – Soy infant formula – Instead, use infant formulas that are soy-free.

Why We All Need To Stop Cleaning With Bleach

Chlorine Bleach. In many households it is one of the most commonly used and relied upon cleaners. It is most infamously known for it’s ability to keep clothes white, to assist in removing mold and mildew from a shower or tub and it’s disinfectant properties. For these specific purposes chlorine bleach certainly can be classified as effective, but for quite sometime now the negative side effects and potential dangers to using this cleaning product have been discussed in the public spotlight.

The most obvious danger of Chlorine Bleach is printed clearly on the label. It is a heavily corrosive material capable of irritating the eyes, skin and respiratory tract often by simply inhaling the gases its use emits. This inhalation has been noted to deteriorate the lungs and esophagus lining in addition to the scarring of the respiratory tract that I previously mentioned. These side effects may not occur to a visibly notable extent with each exposure to bleach, but the chemicals impact is never favourable, especially over a long period of time.

It is important to note that there is no FDA-type organization that regulates the cleaning products that are brought into your home. Instead groups such as the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) make warnings of the use of Chlorine Bleach publicly available. Under the assumption that consumers will continue to use Chlorine Bleach within their households, the following safety precautions are widely recommended:

  • Dilute the chlorine bleach with water. The lower concentration poses a potentially lesser risk of unwanted exposure.
  • Wear a safety mask and rubber gloves when working with bleach as a preventative measure.
  • Only use chlorine bleach in a well ventilated area to allow for sufficient air flow and to prevent the unwanted gasses from remaining stationary in the working space.
  • Never mix chlorine bleach with any other household cleaners.

The fourth and final recommendation is particularly worth noting because mixed with common ingredients -such as ammonia -found in many other household cleaners the fumes produced can become even more lethal and potentially fatal. Nose bleeds, neurological disorders, headaches, shortness of breath and chest pain, are just a small number of the potential side effects that can be experienced.

As helpful as these safety precautions can be, why not just stop using bleach altogether? Thankfully there are healthy alternatives to not only chlorine bleach but pretty well every toxic cleaning product out there. I can’t possibly share every alternative within this article but I would like to share a couple that I have come across and I invite you all to contribute your own findings through the comment section of the article.

Bleach Alternative (Source: Grit.com)
Mix 12 cups water, 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1 cup hydrogen peroxide. Add 2 cups per wash load or put in spray bottle and use as a household cleaner.

Whitening Scouring Powder (Source: Gaiam Life)
Combine 1 cup baking soda, 2 teaspoons cream of tartar, 1/8 cup borax, 1/4 cup grated lemon, orange or grapefruit peel and mix well. Scrub using a damp sponge.

Natural Orange All-Purpose Cleaner
As a part of the March Issue of CE Magazine, Alanna from the CE Team shared with readers a great all-purpose cleaner that is safe and easy to make at home.

Step 1: Save enough orange peels to fill a 1-liter mason jar
Step 2: Pour in 500mL (2 Cups) of white vinegar
Step 3: Seal the jar and let it sit in your cupboard or on your counter for 2 weeks
Step 4: Open the jar and remove the orange peels, keeping the liquid.
Step 5: Mix water with orange liquid solution, 4 parts water for every 1 part solution in a spray bottle. Clean away!
The Power of Baking Soda, White Vinegar & Lemon

These simple and non-corrosive or hazardous ingredients are true powerhouses when it comes to cleaning around the house. Baking soda is great for removing odors and freshening fabrics, lemon juice is fantastic for cutting through grease and white vinegar mixed with water is an awesome ammonia-free glass cleaner.

Just as we have discovered with chlorine bleach, there are always alternatives. Be sure to conduct your own research and make informed decisions about the things that you bring into your house and expose you and your loved ones to. Keep in mind that your understanding should always go beyond the label! Even cleaning products that are labelled as “natural,” “healthy,” or “organic” should always be looked into and thanks to the internet that information is most often readily available.

I’d like to finish off by sharing a brief list of particular chemicals that numerous sources within my research have posted as being important to look out for: Diethylene Glycol, Nonylphenol Ethoxylate, Ammonia, Perchloroethylene, Butyl Cellosolve, Formaldehyde, Methoxychlor, Naphthalene, Sulfuric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide, Chloroform, Nitrobenzene, Dried Chlorine.

Holy Fukushima. Radiation from Japan is already killing North Americans

If you live on the west coast of Canada or the United States, you’re pretty much already screwed at this point thanks to the Japanese earthquake and tsunami of 2011. Radiation levels are already increasing in the food and water, babies born with thyroid issues linked to radiation are rising quickly and governments in Canada and the United States are raising the “acceptable levels” of certain toxic substances in the food being shipped in from Japan.

This isn’t a conspiracy theory, this is happening and it’s happening right now.

The fancy little picture at the top of the article isn’t showing you the flow of happy fun time thoughts from Japan back in March of 2012, it’s showing you the flow of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant after the devastating earthquake and tsunami of 2011. Yes, that sharp pain you just felt in your chest is the sudden realization that the image shows the radiation reaching almost past Hawaii more than a year ago.

Do the math – If that radiation screamed across the Pacific Ocean that far in one year, just how far do you think it has gotten since then? Look at what World Truth TV is saying and then you decide.

Samples of milk taken across the United States have shown radiation at levels 2000 percent higher than EPA maximums. The reason that milk is so significant is that it is representative of the entire food supply. According to an article published on Natural News, “Cows consume grass and are exposed to the same elements as food crops and water supplies. In other words, when cows’ milk starts testing positive for high levels of radioactive elements, this is indicative of radioactive contamination of the entire food supply.”

The Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Deception Protection Agency, instead of refusing to prohibit the sale of tainted foods and mandatory testing of foods produced and harvested from the Pacific Coast, have simply raised the “acceptable levels” of radioactive material in foods.

If that doesn’t scare the ever-living crap out of you, then take a look at the list of foods you are now supposed to be wary of, you know, for only the next 30,000 years.

How can we protect ourselves? First, be aware of what items are likely to be highly tainted.

1. SEAFOOD: Question the origin of ALL seafood. Fish and crustaceans from the Pacific Ocean should all be considered to be poisoned with radiation.

2. WATER: The rainfall and snowfall are all radiated. Do not drink any water that has not been filtered. The tap water that flows from your faucet has NOT been treated to rid it of radioactive particles. A recent report from the NY Times stated, “A rooftop water monitoring program managed by UC Berkeley’s Department of Nuclear Engineering detected substantial spikes in rain-borne iodine-131 during torrential downpours …

3. DAIRY PRODUCTS: Milk and milk products from the West Coast states currently have the highest levels of radiation in North America.

4. PRODUCE: Leafy Vegetables, Wines, Tomatoes, Strawberries….all produce from California or any other West Coast State are also likely to be tainted.

5. MEAT: If an animal eats any leafy vegetable all along the West Coast, that animal has consumed radiation, and is poisoned. This is any animal from cows, pigs, goats, sheep to wild deer and other game.

If you eat the above foods from areas with high radiation levels, you are eating radiation and feeding it to your children. Slowly the radiation levels within your body will build up. This is PERMANENT.

Infant mortality rates across the United States have increased by more than 35% since the nuclear disaster, according to a court statement by Dr. Sherman with independent scientist Leuren Moret, MA, PhD. A study published in The International Journal of Medicine indicates that more than 20000 deaths right here in North America can be directly attributed to the release of radioactive material from Fukushima.

Radioactive isotopes of the type released from Fukushima have a half-life of 30000 years. This means that we must permanently change the way we prepare our food.

  • Wash your food with soap and rinse it in filtered water. 
  • Be aware of the origins of your vegetables, fish, game and seafood.
  • Keep abreast of radiation levels to help monitor where your food is acquired.
  • Use only filtered water for drinking, cooking and ice.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but that one way trip to colonize Mars is looking pretty damn attractive right now.

Guess What Kills One Person Every 19 Minutes?

When it comes “how you’re going to die,” many people fear things like airplane crashes or shark attacks, even though statistics show that deaths from these events are very rare. Conversely, far too many people mistakenly believe that certain common aspects of everyday life are extremely safe — when, in reality, this is often far from the truth. Once such daily ritual that is far more dangerous than many people believe is taking properly prescribed pharmaceutical drugs. Popping pills on a daily basis to “improve health” has become far too common for many Americans. In fact, according to the CDC, approximately 50% of all Americans take a pharmaceutical drug daily. When you isolate senior citizens, the number shoots up to an astonishing 90%. And perhaps even more troubling, 20% of children take a pharmaceutical drug.

At the same time, statistics are showing that deaths from pharmaceutical drugs are rising at an alarming rate. But don’t take my word for it. Just google the term “pharmaceutical drugs kill” and you’ll see headlines from major news organizations such as Fox and CNN that read:

“Prescription drugs 62000 times more likely to kill”

“Prescription drugs kill 6200% more Americans …”

“Prescription Drugs Kill 300 Percent More Americans than Illegal Drugs…”

“Prescription drugs are now killing more people than traffic accidents…”

“Prescription Drug Deaths Skyrocket…”

“Prescription drugs kill one person every 19 minutes…”

“Prescription Drugs Now Kill More People Than Heroin And Cocaine Combined…”

Sadly, most people don’t know that properly prescribed prescription drugs kill over 100,000 Americans each year. (This excludes prescription drug abuse, which causes this number to skyrocket even higher.) This is more than or equal to the number of people who die from accidents, Alzheimer’s, influenza and diabetes!

One reason that most people are in the dark about the dangers of pharmaceutical drugs is due to a fundamental misunderstanding of how these drugs get tested and approved. Too many people believe that the FDA has some kind of rigorous testing and evaluation system. Sadly, this is far from the truth.

The current system puts almost the entire burden to test the safety of a new pharmaceutical drug on the developer of that drug. And since developing a new drug costs billions of dollars, you can imagine the immense pressure on the entire organization to make sure that drug gets to market. Making things worse are the fees that the pharmaceutical companies pay the FDA, which amount to about 20% of its total budget. Now, I’m no expert on organizational structure, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this system is inherently flawed and corrupt.

What’s the final product of this cozy relationship between Big Pharma and the FDA? It’s simple – dangerous drugs being put on the market, leaving us hapless consumers as real world guinea pigs. Simply put, the big drug companies profit and we die.

One of the most infamous examples of this is what happened with the painkiller Vioxx. It’s widely known that Merck engaged in several illegal and dubious strategies to influence the research backing the safety of Vioxx. Sadly, this easily tricked the FDA who approved the drug, only to remove it from the shelves after it killed approximately 60,000 people – more than the number of brave soldiers who died in Vietnam. Will we be building a memorial for the Vioxx victims?

The latest example of the flaws in the process for getting pharmaceutical drugs approved by the FDA is the diabetes drug Avandia. A Senate Finance Committee investigation showed that GlaxoSmithKline intentionally hid reliable scientific data clearly showing that Avandia significantly increases the risk of heart attack. Naturally this came to light after the FDA approved the drug, and it didn’t take long before it was linked to 83,000 heart attacks and deaths, according to the FDA’s own scientists.

If you think Vioxx and Avandia are flukes, think again. There are dozens, and perhaps hundreds, of drugs killing people every day, because their makers provided flawed, biased and corrupt data to the FDA. And since the FDA is unequipped, incapable or unwilling to change the system, more and more people are going to die.

If you believe your doctor provides the final line of defense for you, think again. Despite good intentions, guess who trained your doctor on all of the “benefits” of the drug they are prescribing to you? You guessed it – the company that stands to make billions of dollars from its sale. Your doctor got duped (and probably got a free golf trip in Hawaii). Meanwhile, you got a potentially harmful drug that may put your health in jeopardy.

The bottom line – don’t trust that pharmaceutical drugs are safe. Big Pharma has a long, sad track record of lies, corruption and deceit, all in the name of profits. And the FDA’s system to approve drugs is as flawed as perhaps any function of government.

My advice: If your doctor prescribes you a drug, take your health into your own hands! Consider lifestyle changes, look for natural alternatives, get second opinions and do your own research. Only take the drug after you are 100% certain it is safe and in your best interests. After all – your life may depend on it!
